What we do

We offer evidence-based, person-centred support that helps people build skills, independence, and brighter futures.

Behaviour Support

We provide evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) for children, young people, and adults with disability. Our approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and focused on building quality of life, independence, and skills, not just reducing behaviours of concern.

Counselling

We offer counselling that is flexible, practical, and strengths-based. Sessions are adapted to meet the communication and developmental needs of each person, whether that’s through conversation, visuals, or creative activities. Our counselling style is gentle and collaborative, drawing on approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies.

Consulting

We provide consulting services to organisations, support coordinators, and teams seeking expert guidance in disability and behaviour support. Our aim is to strengthen team capacity and confidence so participants receive consistent, safe, and effective support.

Our Services

We meet you where you’re at

At Brighter Behaviour Co, we believe lasting change comes from understanding, not control. Every behaviour tells a story, and by listening closely, we uncover the reasons behind it.

Our person-centred, trauma-informed approach combines evidence-based strategies with compassion, helping people build new skills, strengthen relationships, and create safer, more fulfilling lives.

Working collaboratively with individuals and their support networks, we focus on practical solutions that empower independence, resilience, and brighter outcomes for everyone we support.

About us

Who we work with

We support children, young people, and adults with disability, psychosocial disability, and complex support needs. Some of the common areas we work with include:

Aggression and physical behaviours

We help individuals understand and manage behaviours like hitting, kicking, or pushing, replacing them with safe and effective communication strategies.

Absconding and refusal behaviours

We assist individuals in navigating transitions and routines safely, promoting engagement while reducing avoidance or escape behaviours.

Mental Health concerns

We provide tailored support for anxiety, depression, or psychosis in the context of disability, focusing on wellbeing and skill development.

Property Damage

We support people to express needs without damaging their environment, teaching practical skills to prevent harm to objects and surroundings.

Inappropriate or unsafe sexualised behaviours

We offer guidance and skill-building to help individuals understand boundaries and engage safely with others.

Neuro-developmental conditions

We deliver personalised strategies for individuals with Autism, ADHD, FASD, and Intellectual Disability, supporting growth, independence, and communication.

Self-harm & suicidal behaviours

We provide compassionate, evidence-based strategies to reduce risk, build coping skills, and support emotional regulation

Substance use

We work collaboratively to reduce harmful use and support healthier coping strategies, tailored to each person’s needs.

Risk-taking behaviour

We help individuals recognise triggers, make safer choices, and develop skills to minimise harm in daily life.

Meet the founder

Hi, I’m Katie

Katie brings both lived and professional experience to her work. As the appointed guardian of her adult sibling, who is an NDIS participant, Katie has first-hand insight into navigating the complexities of disability and mental health systems.

Professionally, she has worked across childcare, nursing, education, counselling, and psychology, holding qualifications in Early Years Education, Nursing, Counselling, Psychology and Social Science.

Katie’s personal experiences and diverse professional background inspired her to create Brighter Behaviour Co, a service that fills a vital gap by providing practical, compassionate, and evidence-based behaviour support that puts the person and their support network at the centre of every plan.
